...than weddings to meet women?

I know it's an obvious point, post-"Wedding Crashers" but goddamn.
It's like my mojo and chi sync up once the post-wedding dance phase gets started and for those next few hours I'm beyond money.

I'll end this before I reference any more Vince Vaughn movies, but weddings, yeah...

I met my wife at a bar.
On a Tuesday night.

A couple of factors GREATLY increase your odds as I have experienced this phenomenon first hand.

1) It depends on the age group.

A young couple in their 20's, early 30's has a higher chance of their friends being single.

2) Being IN the wedding increases your chances even more, especially with a single bridesmaid.

The last 3 weddings I've either been in or attended, a groomsmen has had sex with a bridesmaid including the one I attended this past weekend. I don't know if it's the comfort level everyone reaches after rehearsals, dinners, lovefest speeches, etc but take that mind set and throw gallons of alcohol on it and you've got a recipe for hookin up.

I love a good wedding.

I'm standing up in a wedding in September and the bride told me, "I told my friend all about you. He's not really single, but he'd definitely make out with you."

Gee, thanks.

I'm a Best Man in a wedding this weekend, but I don't plan on getting laid. I plan on being that drunk asshole who dances crazily all night. Plus, I'm not really sure how much booze will actually be available at the reception, since the wedding is really early Saturday. My friend and I who are in the wedding party might have to go to the bars afterward to make-up for a lack of partying.

I haven't been to on on wedding in almost two years. None of my friends are getting married anytime soon (or are already married). But I never meet any guys who are worth meeting - there either too young or too old or too drunk to make them remotely attractive.

Also, it helps a TON if you have very, very low standards, ala Ze Doktor @ Loog's wedding.

Apparently this guy used to be one of the biggest heroin dealers in the Pacific Northwest and now he's found God. So, I might get Hep-C or the hiv from this guy, but at least he's got God in his corner.

This is the same girl who told me I should do some online dating because when she did it, she went on at least 75 dates. She said this right in front of her fiance. The churchgoing folks are always a little sketchy, I've found.

I've gotta agree. The past 3 weddings I've been to have been completely devoid of single women, and if they are there, they are bottom of the barrel types.

I've only been to two weddings so far, but they've both been the conservative religous types with no dancing or alcohol. For whatever reasong all of my religious conservative friends are getting married first and throwing shitty weddings.

Were they in Bomont, Iowa with the Reverend Shaw Moore presiding?

One thing I've had going for me in my last few weddings is that I've been friends with the bride. That gives an endorsement of; "Hey this guy's alright. It's not like he's family and I'm obligated to invite him to this thing. He's here because he's good people."

Plus [Matt Damon in "Ocean's Thirteen"] the bald head plays.[/Matt Damon in "Ocean's Thirteen"]

Yeah, I am skeptical of this one. My friend is not very conservative, but his parents are and I have yet to meet his fiancee, despite being involved in the wedding. The actual ceremony is at 10:30am at a park, but would be at the reception hall if the weather is bad. I can't imagine a reception that early in the day featuring alot of booze or even dancing, but I hope I am wrong.
I am used to Catholic weddings in mostly small town settings where most of the booze is free and the whole freaking town is invited.

A wedding without an open bar = not a wedding.
