Bad Brains: Build A Nation

This probably ain't gonna convert non-fans, but fans, like me, will find plenty to like. A lot of it sounds like their early material musically, but with HR slowing down the vocals even when the music is going at a breakneck pace. I miss the frenzied vocals of the early discs, but ya can't expect a guy to keep that pace up forever. Lyrically, the tunes are firmly in the uplifting/spiritual side of things; the nods to more earthly concerns from thei older work is somewhat missed by me anyway. Some of the best reggae stuff from any of their albums is on here. And, Dr. Know's guitar has rarely sounded better. If you like Bad Brains, I think you'd enjoy giving this one a listen. It's probably the best thing they've done since I Against I. And, since I was more fond of the first couple and was somewhat disappointed in I Against I, it's my favorite since Rock for Light.

Beulah - when your heartstrings break

Bowie - Let's Dance

Bjork - Homogenic

I don't mean to be one of those folks who goes through the collection by the alphabet.

God forbid. Nice job putting Bowie before Bjork, just in case we got the wrong idea.

Shouldn't Bjork be filed under "S"?
