So I heard "Walkin' to New Orleans" today at Trader Joes, and I figured I should add some Fats to my stacks. I'm sure a comp will probably be plenty, but I'm open to any and all suggestions you people may have.

I even have the red reusable bags now. And when you bring 'em back to shop again, they enter you in a raffle. I gotta win this thing, because I swing over there for lunch fairly often. Stuffin' the box, yo!

Their wine selection is generally very good, Two Buck Chuck notwithstanding.

I think there is an infinite number of bad comps out there. Buyer beware. Lots feature live versions without annotation, so stick to major comps if you do pick one up.

I wish there was a trader joe's closer than 35 miles away.

Outside a few songs on compilations, all my Fats Domino is old vinyl, but I've had my eye on this one for a while now...

It's the summary disc from the Walking to New Orleans box.

Unless, of course, you come across a copy of this one....

which, for cover art alone you should buy.

The best comp I've seen (and one I think I own) is the soundtrack to My Blue Heaven. Pretty sure it's out o' print. I'll check when I get home from work. If I've got it, I'll up it.

Me too.

I got nothing for you on Fats though I'm surprised that I don't have a comp. of him somewhere--I used to buy a lot of comps. from BMG and the used stores for just such purposes.

CMT was running Any Which Way You Can last night, which in addition to plenty of lovable Philo Beddoe/Clyde hijinks, featured a scene with Fats Domino singing "Honky Tonk Angels in Whiskey Heaven" right after Sondra "Lynn Halsey-Taylor" Locke opened for him with her own unique brand of late-'70s Juicesque country pop.

.

I have the My Blue Heaven Comp and this one is better. Most of Fats's early albums are out of print.
