i want to make a neo-shoegaze/noise rock/fuzz band that will totally rock your socks off with the psychedelic sounds of amazingness. however:

1. i dont know how to play any instruments
2. i dont know people
3. i cant sing
4. i dont do drugs

damn, another dream down the gutter.

You don't need to do drugs to make shoegaze music.
It wasn't until years of playing shoegaze-ish music that I actually tried psych drugs.

Even historically, not all psych bands have necessarily been into drugs.

haha yeah i know. this whole thread is pointless. about every other week i claim i'm going to start a band in a certain genre. been doing that for about 10 years now.

the closest I ever got was a couple years ago when me and some of the metal heads at school got together and started churning out Motown covers with me growling.

It sucked, but I thought it was clever for a high school band when everyone else was doing pop punk and emo.

...or Goo Goo Dolls and Ben Folds covers. Fuck them.

I was all set to record a Christmas album with my band Burgertron (featuring me on mouth trumpet and my brother-in-law Steve on mouth trumpet) a few months ago, but my brother Brian's 4-track recorder broke shortly before the magical day. We're committed to recording with new equipment next winter.

I wish I was making this up.

Do you know how to program? Get ProTools or something...become a "bedroom boffin".

One of the cool things you can do is pitch-correct, so even if you can't sing, you will be able to...virtually.
