Outside of the well known singles, I've never listened to early U2 (pre-Joshua Tree) at all. There's a flood of U2's albums on a usenet group, so I'm getting War and The Unforgettable Fire.

Any fans of these particular albums?

I prefer War. Rocks more.

Unforgettable Fire has a pile of great songs on it, but there's 3 or 4 tracks that just feel unfinished to me. Structureless.

All we are saying / is give War a chance

War and Joshua are both A+

on a lenient day I'd also give Boy an A+.

I'll listen to War first then, these were the only two I was able to download. Hopefully the rest will follow shortly. I've never heard the Joshua Tree album either, only the more well known singles, so that's another I'll have to hear eventually. I do own Achtung Baby, Zooropa and Pop, all of which I enjoy a lot.

For the life of me, I don't know why I haven't really listened to pre-90s U2. Probably the same reason I never heard the Clash until about 2 months ago: no one I knew listened to them or had any of their music.
