It's funny that the District's map came as a result of losing a congressional seat to a Sun Belt state due to slow population growth and how a Republican controlled Pennsylvania state legislature decided to merge the districts of Don Bailey and John Murtha to eliminate at least one Democratic party controlled seat.

Was Murtha planning a run for 2010? I know he faced challengers before who looked like they might beat him, but with the way his district is leaning right and the increasing corruption charges being directed against him, you'd have to think he was on his way out before death.

murtha's deals with defense contractors brought in some serious revenue for southwestern pennsylvania. johnstown would probably be a ghost town without murtha pulling a couple strings.
