I agree about the Shaolin Soccer... I think I saw it for $10 (in a FYE, of all places) this weekend as well - even if you haven't seen it, it's worth the buy at that price...

and I'm pretty hyped about Kung Fu Hustle myself...

yeah, i think that i liked Soccer more as well. it used the crazy shit to cling tenuously to the plot, whereas this one was loosely a superhero movie but took some grand tangents. stuff like the footrace was retarded, but was made up for by the gangster with the busted grill doing that little samba whenever he had to shoot someone.

you just know people approach him all the time and ask him to do that dance. And, just like the guy from Mr. Show when asked to do the Fenderman dance, he probably says:
"Fuck off. Seriously."

Incidentally, I watched Battle Royale again last night, and am now even more blown away than after the first viewing.

i still haven't seen that. after this week, i'm going to let the asian flicks alone for a minute, or at least until i get my hands on that new miike flick.

finally watched this shit. i liked it a lot, although i wish that i could see a japanese movie that DIDN'T use CGI blood spurts.

I love that movie...hard to believe the producers thought they could bring it to America & have a big hit with it.

I just picked up Battle Royale I & II as well as Kung Fu Hustle from Pacific Mall here in Toronto. Prices at all the shops there are ridiculously low. All three cost me $10 total. Can anyone recommend any other Asian Films that are similar to these.

My roommates said Battle Royale II was really bad.

Ong-Bak Thai Warrior was pretty decent.

I've seen Ong Bak and liked it. I heard Battle Royale II was terrible but for $5 I'll take the risk.
