it was a pretty good show, but I just feel like I can't bring myself to enjoy it? I mean, when they were playing "Brass Monkey" and we were surrounded by dudes pounding beers in backwards baseball hats, I thought to myself how 15 years ago I didn't like that song, and it just serves as a date-rape anthem in my brain now. The show itself wasn't all that different than the last time I saw them in 1998 other than their wardrobes, but I thought it was weird that I was more happy to hear the numbers where they were playing instruments, if only so Ad-rock would be too busy to sing.
But they can't really be blamed for that. They were energetic and tried hard, but I found myself waaay more excited to see Money Mark and MixMaster Mike than anything else. and they were both incredible.
I called an old friend of mine on the walk out and told him that if 1995 me had known that in 12 years I'd attend a Beasties show totally sober and not dance my ass off, I'd rent a time machine and travel to future to stab the present me in the heart, face, and genitals.
I really liked the venue other than the parking, though.
you're funny, C. Sounds like you are assimilating well into your new environs too!
