New Spoon Album - Gimme Fiction

As most of you have seen on the front page of our website or in yesterday's exclusive announcement from Pitchfork Media, the new SPOON album, <i>Gimme Fiction</i> will be released May 10, 2005

And it's amazing, by the way.

The tracklisting for the long-awaited follow-up to 2002s <i>Kill The Moonlight</i> is as follows:

1. The Beast And Dragon, Adored
2. The Two Sides Of Monsieur Valentine
3. I Turn My Camera On
4. My Mathematical Mind
5. The Delicate Place
6. Sister Jack
7. I Summon You
8. The Infinite Pet
9. Was It You?
10. They Never Got You
11. Merchants Of Soul

We're so excited for everyone to hear this album, we may not be able to restrain ourselves from putting out a single in advance of the record, or even stream the whole thing as the release date draws near, more on that later

cool. i was listening to a bootleg solo britt show a few days ago with most of those songs...i wasn't too hot on them, but i'm excited to hear the arranged versions, etc.

No interns going onto file-trading networks and forgetting they have it on their hard drive, I guess...
Plus, I imagine it'd be easier to control these things when you record the album yourselves...

their last 2 are some of my favorite albums but i'm kind of on the fence about 'a series of sneaks'. how does their even earlier material compare?

I think Telephono is pretty bad, but Kill the Moonlight is my least favorite. A Series of Sneaks is perhaps one of my favorite albums of the last decade.

As you'll recall, both Kill the Moonlight and Series of Sneaks, A placed on the original, Whiney-curated Listmania! So, I think it stands that the Obnerites have taken a shine to Spoon across eras. And this would mean they are of roughly equal heft.
