I agree---he looks like our local pediatric endocrinologist.

But looks are deceiving---he rocks live.

It's not like it ruins the band for me, I just had this totally different image in my head.

At least you guys aren't sexist when it comes to judging a book by its cover.

The guy from Sparta in that acoustic vid looked younger than I expected.

Same here.

When I listened to Boys & Girls In America, an album that I liked but didn't love like many here, I developed this picture of him---when I saw them live a couple months ago, I found myself liking the album a bit more for some strange reason.

OF COURSE he's a rocker! In fact, some people would even go so far as to call him "Sunny D," because he's got the good stuff kids go for.

I like the Hold Steady, but from that nasal pitched voice, I never really expected him to look much different than that. Always sounds a bit like a drunk Elvis Costello on speed to me anyway.

Ever notice how there's a hell of a lot of bands in this world?

first time i saw the hold steady, they were setting up and i was trying to figure out who the singer was. i really had no idea until they started the set. i was surprised, but it works well.

and how could people really stop listening to a band because of what they look like?

I didn't think so, but without a winkie lolz, sarcasm is often difficult to parse.

With a pocket square, and slimmer glasses and a foot and a half of height, he could be me ;)
