this is the lead of swervedriver who has returned to more rock oriented sound after doing some more sampling oriented experimentalist music with toshack highway.

the album is stellar and w/o doubt one of my tops of 2007. i'm going to be checking him out at the echo tonight... and so should you if he's in your area.

a truly stellar album. highly rec'd. 8.5/10.

I'll give it a shot. Are there any songs online?

I saw him a few years ago @ Echo in Atl. I left disappointed because he didn't play any Swervedriver. Let me know how it goes.

i'll let you know how the show goes.

i think he has some of the stuff on his myspace. the new album is really good...feels like later swerve in a way. rock but more mellow.

here's a comment from the web site:

"The songwriting force behind one of the most underrated bands of the nineties – that’s Swervedriver, and yes you should run along and buy up their entire catalogue straight away – has shelved his ambient pop project Toshack Highway and returned to the guitar driven sound of his heyday to deliver what is arguably his strongest offering of the decade. It’s truly thrilling to hear Franklin amped up again and belting out urgent guitar anthems like opener Seize the Day and Shining Somewhere. The vocals certainly sound more weathered, and the effects rack has most likely been trimmed down a little from his Swervedriver days, but these two immediate standouts are unmistakably the sound of man enjoying his music." - No Ripcord

I've been meaning to check this out...I will definitely be seeing him when he comes to town in October.

I really liked toshack highway as well.

been meaning to update this thread all day, but work has been a biyatch...but i digress....

THE SHOW KICKED EFFING ASS.

I swear the dualing guitar work by Adam and some other unknown gent (utilizing mad amounts of pedals, distortion and effects) was stunning. everyone should go to this show. no SWD material was played but some gems from Toshack and the solo stuff. seriously this show is not to be missed.

adam ended the show with this raging feedback loop that was so rad. highly highly rec'd.

to reiterate, it was really awesome to see some modern day shoegazer action live... you don't see this kind of stuff that much anymore.

It would be nice if he played some of the old SWD stuff...I know he was when he promoted toshack...he even got Jack Rabid's band to do a 5 song set of SWD songs fronted by Adam.

Jack told me they did Bring me the Head Of the Fortune Teller. I can't remember the others.

that would be seriously sweet, but i have to say the mix of songs he played were so great. honestly awesome stuff. i was expecting a more mellow show as bolts is pretty mellow but live it was some seriously rockin stuff.

It was pretty "meh" on first listen. I'll check him out live.
