Is Hearts of Oak and/or Shake the Streets as good/better than Tyranny of Distance. I really like Tof D, and Set You Free (Chisel), but Tej Leo Rx/Pharmacists is awful, since that was my last Ted leo related purchase, it makes me wary of making another mistake. Any thoughts?

I liked Hearts of Oak. Shake the Sheets hasn't gotten quite enough listens for me to rank it yet, but it seems promising; I'll be getting it out more soon as I have tix for the 20th.

I think Shake The Sheets is way better than Hearts Of Oak and also more comparable to Tyranny Of Distance in approach.

I love just about everything he puts out.

Shake The Sheets was my #2 this year. Eat me.

I think Shake the Sheets is more consistent than Hearts of Oak, which gets wanky and repetitive in parts. However, Hearts of Oak is more original. Also more punk-flavored where Shake is more rock.

Tyranny and Hearts of Oak are both pretty special to me, I was completely bored with Shake the Sheets and already sold it back.

yeah, same here. lookout was holding back on the LP and everything i own of ted leo's is on vinyl, so i can't start buying CDs now. i didn't get it until the end of december, but nothing ted leo does isn't great in my book. hearts of oak doesn't get too many listens anymore, but i don't know why because i seem to be really into all the songs whenever i do hear them. maybe i'll put that on after i'm done with this is hardcore again.

I love Ted Leo, and while ToD is his masterwork, both HoO and StS are definitely worthwhile. Don't be discouraged by Tej, which is an absolutely unlistenable piece of shit. I think it was just Ted experimenting with tape equipment.
