Post your request here, and provided it's a song I know, I'll sing it karaoke-style via cell phone (a capella, of course). Be patient, though, because I have to wait until I get the opportunity to step away in order to do this. I'll try to get as many of these done today as possible.

This is my holiday gift to you, Obner.

I'm not sure what to expect here...

Ok, do Summer Breeze by Seals and Crofts.

Gimme a few minutes here, and I'll get right on it, Andy.

So like are you posting these, or are you calling each person and leaving a VM?

Either way, I think I need to hear you do Tommy James & the Shondells' "Crimson & Clover".

I'm posting them. That's the only way to fully maximize the potential for ridicule.

I'm running into some logistics concerns, as I'm having a difficult time finding a suitable "studio" for cutting these tracks. The walls are too thin for me to do these in my office, so I went into the storage room and did the first one. I can probably do others in there, but I'm just scared someone will walk in on me.

It really wouldn't be worth doing if I actually knew how to sing, would it?

This has the potential to be the greatest thread in the history of the universe. FT, you are both brave and insane, and you have my total support.

Also, give me some of that "Lovin' You" by Minnie Ripperton.

I think, logistically, you should limit these to a verse and a chorus. Like 30 seconds. Otherwise, you're gonna spend all afternoon in the storage room, and people will assume MUCh worse than "oh he's in there singing into his cellphone."

And make mine Viva Las Vegas, please.

I figured it would be either the greatest or worst. I have to try and redeem myself after the Chick-Fil-A incident. The only problem I foresee is not always being able to get these done right away. But it is my promise to you and every Obnerite that I WILL eventually do each and every song on this list that I know. The only songs I anticipate not knowing would be rap or ting ting la la poo bear ticklemonster stuff.

Good point. I might have to go longer for songs with a signature moment that can't be captured within a single verse/chorus runthru.

And somebody please request Van Halen's "Ice Cream Man." I gots the urge.

Only if you do it up Diamond Dave style, with some falsetto screams.

Maybe you should go to the roof.

Oh, and for what it's worth, I plan on utilizing this newfangled cell voice blogging technology to file reports from SXSW 2008. I'm sure this will include many a "drunk dial" starring your favorite Obnish on the scene, such as d.

Just kidding, of course. Gotta go with the original. It's one of the few Elvis songs I can stomach.
