What I like best about the Village Voice is Dan Savage's dirty dirty advice column.

Rather than flog the obvious dead horse that yes, there are a lot of critics with shitty taste, here's what I like about the list. Look up your favorite albums, then click on them to see which critics voted for them, and then look at their lists. You just might find something interesting that you'd like.

My one complaint would be their limiting ballots to ten albums. The list would be a little more diverse and interesting if people could vote for 20, like the Shmoo poll. I would have liked to lend support to albums that didn't make my top ten, like Stars (214), Ed Harcourt (not one vote!), Dungen (69), The Earlies (1001), and Mastodon(60).

I totally predicted the top four, and was surprised by how high Animal Collective and M.I.A./Diplo were ranked, given their relative obscurity.

My rating Pazz & Jop Rating Album

01 12 TV on the Radio Desperate Youth
02 18 Björk Medulla
03 143 Ghost Hypnotic Underworld
04 221 Razorlight Up All Night
05 41 Junior Boys Last Exit
06 43 Walkmen Bows and Arrows
07 644 Arto Lindsay Salt
08 90 Annie Anniemal
09 90 Mark Lanegan Bubblegum
10 1776 Sketch Show Loophole
11 38 Black Keys Rubber Factory
12 73 Go! Team Thunder, Lightning, Strike
13 661 Utada Exodus

Was Obner around last year?

I'm gonna let the buzzkill roll off me like a dried turd and share my excitement that they printed my comments about TV On The Radio (scroll near bottom).

They didn't include the lyrics I quoted:

Quote:
“oh loiterers united / indivisible by shame / hungry for those diamonds / served on little severed bloody brown hands / oh the bling drips / oh the bling drips down / fallin’ down just like rain.”

MIA/Diplo is this year's Dizzee Rascal. A late year entry that everyone puts in their list to show how "with-it" they are.

Not that the MIA/Diplo isn't fire.

PS - They printed TWO of my comments. Yes! Yes! I'm more fuckn famous! ;)
