So I saw Mike Stipe do this song with Bruce & the E Street on Sundance from the concert for change or whatever in DC but I never got a hold of the track. Anybody out there have it? I found a site where I can d-load for 10 cents but that seems like a buncha damn Credit Card fraud to me........

By the way, for those who haven't heard it, Stipe fucking slays on the live version of this.

On the single for "Few and Far Between" by 10,000 Maniacs (shut up), there's a version of this song with Michael Stipe and Natalie Merchant. It's maddeningly good.

I would have to respectfully disagree with you (and I always respect my elders)

You do know that Bruce wrote that song specifically for Patti, right?

Ayah, I think you would quite enjoy the Springsteen version with Stipe. Stipe mentioned that Patti Smith and Bruce are two of his favorite performers, and he gives the song its due respect. Shit, when I saw this on TV he looked like he might start crying.
