that was her "cigarette girl from the future" costume.

velouria is currently lying on her stomach at home, so i'm sure she'll be pleased to know people are saying nice things.

Re: Bon Savants

I can't download your other 2 tracks, only the first one. It gives me some error that has been reported to the Myspace team or something.

yeah, but you can still hear them in the player. myspace and the like still have some kinks to work out...but i have to admit, it has made learning about new bands quite easy from a booking agent/promotion side. i love it when bands just give me a myspace link, rather than do the hoop jumping often involved with a creative site.

i just never did it because it seemed like an overcrowded wasteland of millions of bands, ala garageband

One band I know (with some friends in it) has over 6400 friends. Granted, it's not as if every one of those kids is going to make it to every show, but they've actually got a draw going from kids who know each other recommending them to other people, ect...
I mean, if one out of every 50 of those kids bought something from them, that's 128 pieces of merch sold. That's not too shabby for one group stuck in "an overcrowded wasteland of bands"...

oh it's definitely overcrowded, but it has some utilities once you add friends:

- another show announcement place (the bulletin feature)
- interconnected bands, etc.
- provides a very simple place to display who you are, what you sound like, look like, and what people have to say about you. sure, it limits creativity of the sorts found on a band's own site, but no one is stopping you from continuing to do that. i doubt the trend will be in favor of myspace/friendster type places, with a drop off in band site hits
- i'm serious about the promotion/booking thing. how many bands have a built in, reasonably hi-fi delivery player like you find on every myspace band page? the amount of right-click, save target file as shit that booking agents do is silly...

I think myspace works wonders for bands... I personally don't add random bands unless I REALLY dig the music or if it's someone I know, but if I'm interested in hearing their stuff, it's neat to be able to check out their music and keep up to date on shows. I discovered quite a few good bands this way. But to be frankly honest, sometimes it gets annoying when bands always try to add you-

As a consumer, I like the easy link and hear the music deal.
I also like seeing the player counter to see just how popular a band is.

I keep my myspace account strictly to people I know, but allow for bands who I support and need any kind of exposure I can help out with....
