Why does it seem that no one is angry at what this administration is doing to us? Do we all only get Fox News on TV?

Why does no one care that the rich are exempt from the policies that drag 97% of the nation further into poverty? Are we all seriously okay with getting a $300 check two years ago but losing police, firemen, housing and teachers?

Why don't the people who swallow the "faith and morals" side of the party not see that its married to a policy of social and financial suicide? Don't they know that they're being used and discarded? Haven't they figured out that if the party truly cared for the morality platform it campaigns upon, it would have passed a few policies by now (seeing as how it controls every inch of the government) ?

Where is the righteous fucking anger?

This country is dying.

Also, I'm already tired of MIA.
Have a nice morning.

Believe me, I was FURIOUS when I heard (the little that I did hear) about the 2005 budget:
More money for military and sustained tax cuts for the rich? While gutting funds for:
Education
Medicaid
and other needed social programs.

I can understand the justification for the additional $ for the military, even if I think the way it's being used is stupid.

But it's the talk of making the tax cuts permanent, while cutting all those programs that's really got me in a fit.

Un fucking believeable.

this guy has some cojones.

Cutty, your avatar is slowing my computer down.

Lemur, I feel your anger. I'm not sure why there isn't more. I don't think it's apathy really. I think that it's more that people fought hard to get Kerry in there and when it didn't happen people were drained and tired.

I know a lot of people raged about it the last couple of months but I think that most Dems feel helpless right now, like whatever they do they can't stop the Bush juggernaut right now.

I'd like to see some politicians take the "I'm mad as hell and I'm not gonna take it anymore" stance but that don't win you elections 90% of the time. I still have faith that all the havoc that Bush is wreaking right now will eventually hang him but we'll still have the mess to clean up.

Believe me man, I live in Georgia where I think there are more "W" stickers on cars NOW than before the election.

No, it's pretty bad in Ohio too. There's this farmer who had a huge "Bush/Cheney 2004" poster overlooking the side of a major highway close to my home and didn't take it down until January of this year. And I still see at least three "W" bumper stickers a day on my way to school as well.

You would be correct in that thought.

Even before the election it was extremely rare to see a Kerry/Edwards sticker in my neighborhood and afterwards most of my neighbors were so "thankful" about how the election turned out I thought they were going to get down on their knees and thank God.

well, the other side of this is that most of america is comfortable with these decisions, and the lack of anger is because they're happy about it. America is in love with the fantasy that, although they individually aren't rich now, they will be someday, and we need to preserve the luxuries of the rich in anticipation of that day. America also hates brown people.

At this point I don't believe that the Democratic party is worth anything politically. Does anyone remember specific points in the SOTU rebuttal? Did it just sound like playground-y "nuh-uhs!" to anyone else? They're lost.

I'm not advocating a third party. That's pretty useless now too. But the idea that people's belief systems are being co-opted for a party that's systematically flushing them down the toilet is disgusting to me. Why isn't the Democatic party pointing that out? Its already really kinda a one-party system already: just two sides of a fiscal coin. The only difference the general public votes on is faith-based.

And they're being used.

Meanwhile, Todd can't afford a stupid CD because he's married with a kid. And he hates brown people.

Yep. Everyone in America thinks they are going to be millionaires some day so they are programmed by the (not-so-liberal) media to believe that the welfare state is for the weak and that private power overwhelmingly favors the poor. People are programmed to believe that it is inconceivable that the government can actually be by and for the people. What you do not hear in the media is that the republicans they vote for are huge fans of welfare, but not for the general population. I mean, I never even heard of the concept of corporate welfare until after high school, when I started reading alternative literature.

There is a very logical reason why Bush is increasing the military budget while slashing social programs. It is a clever way of shifting power from the poor to the wealthy. The federal government is powerful, and that is why this administration tries to make an effort to dismantle the welfare state to keep federal power out of the hands of the general population. However, at the same time the federal government is expanding for the wealthy through increases in the military budget, which through the pentagon system, will subsidies various industries and corporations.

Hey, they get what they asked for I guess.

I hope the "he" you are referring to in that sentence is not me.

Whatever. I'm telling Mr. Arrajapou. Or however you spell it.

And Borg, sometimes you get me soooo hot.

Here's a nice quote from Mr. Bush at his stop in Nebraska last weekend to promote his new budget:

Quote:
MS. MORNIN: That's good, because I work three jobs and I feel like I contribute.

THE PRESIDENT: You work three jobs?

MS. MORNIN: Three jobs, yes.

THE PRESIDENT: Uniquely American, isn't it? I mean, that is fantastic that you're doing that. (Applause.) Get any sleep? (Laughter.)

When you're toilin' late at night over the freedom deep fryer at your freedom job, mull that over in your head. "Uniquely American" is right. Privileged fuck.

this Jeff Ganon thing alone is enough for me to get sick of thinking about how naive this countryis allowing itself to become, but what can you do? Hold your ground and try to teach some people what's really going on. I don't think coming to this site and raving about the wrongdoings of our government is preaching to the choir. i try to save my ammo for when i need it.

as Bush works tirelessly to "reform" the tax system by reducing its progressivity and reducing the burden on the wealthy Americans, he keeps spending and spending. i saw if he wants to cut taxes he has to reduce military spending by an equivalent amount and leave everything else the same.

From CNN this morning:

U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice said today that Iran must live up to its international obligations to halt its nuclear program or the next steps are in the offing. "And I think everybody understands what the 'next steps' mean," Rice told reporters after a meeting with NATO foreign ministers and European Union officials. In his state of the union address, President Bush singled out Iran as "the world's primary state sponsor of terror -- pursuing nuclear weapons."

I think middle class Americans have been fucking duped. The federal government is acting like a kid with a credit card. As I was that kid in college I can tell you it does not work out so well in the end.
