So as the best man, I have to organize this thing. No real problem as far as planning the evening - pretty simple: Reds game, dinner, drinks, etc. We're all pretty old, and this guy is the last single man standing.

But I'm wading into this gross neon underworld of limo/party bus service. I don't need a retarded pimped-out Humvee deal. Just need a shuttle to cart around 15 guys.

Anyone know a way to do this without losing my ass?

What do you mean? Get prices from several places for what you want and stick to your schedule; your only opportunity to get fleeced is if you guys stay out later than the agreed upon time.

Also, get money for the limo AND the tip from your boy's early in the night before everybody is drunk and out of cash.

I'm in your boat...kinda. I'm stuck trying to figure out how to plan a bachelor's party for a guy who doesn't drink, doesn't like sports, doesn't like movies or music or books, has no real hobbies and is very much a prude so strippers are definitely out of the question.

I'm actually dreading it.

What's the etiquette here? Can I ask for cash from the other guys? I'd say I'm pretty tight with a few of them, but half are from out of town. I assumed I had to cover the whole thing...

So take 'em to a sports bar and then a strip club.

It's once a life, WTF?

Emails + checks and or paypal. Be a dick, you'll feel better later.

Also -- get some yayo, and call in the blue tarp show, skag.

Perfectly acceptable to ask for foundation funds up front (specify that it's for the limo and tip or whatever you intend it to cover, and specify that it's not to cover the entertainment later), so that those with less funds can just gracefully bow out, rather than inadvertantly mooch.

If it's not too late, best to mention it at the time of invite.

Every bachelor party I've ever been to, it's been split n-1 ways.

Don't cover the whole thing yourself. Split that shit up among his "buds". They should at least pay for themselves, and you cover the groom, but if they are real friends they'll each throw in $10 to cover him. Take turns buying him beers and all will be good.

Get a giant van to drive them around.
If you rent the van from Avis or something, I'll be your driver.

Is Brian going?

Jesus. How does this dude even have friends???

As to the question, fuck no you shouldn't have to pay for the whole thing. The Best Man does have duties but flipping the bill for the bach party isn't one of them.

I'm actually going to one this weekend in Destin, FL. We're splitting a beach house between 12 people for 3 nights. The only real shit we have planned is deep sea fishing one day and golf on both days for the ones who aren't going fishing. As much as I love deep sea fishing I don't love it to the tune of $200 for an 8 hour trip that leaves in Hangover A.M. I'm playing golf one day and sitting my ass on the beach the rest of the time with Tub Girl.

Have you looked into a bus company? In Chicago there's a company called Coach USA that does all different sizes of Charter buses. I've booked them for work events before and something like that would work out pretty well. I don't think it'd be any more expensive than a limo either since you'd be getting on of the small buses.

Not sure if Coach USA is in your area but there should be something similar.

Yeah, you're in deep with this dude. I'm guessing family member or you somehow owe him your life, cause he doesn't sound like someone to be hanging out with.

At any rate, you're in Central Jersey, right? If I didn't get that wrong, head down to A.C. Book a couple of rooms at one of the cheaper casinos and stick 4 in a room. Have a group dinner someplace where you can at least watch girls and those who drink can booze it up...maybe take cabs over to Margate. Then Mr. Stick in the Mud can call it a night, and you guys can gamble. Late night head to the Irish Pub & there's a strip club right nearby.

I'm co-best man for a Sept. wedding but, thank God, have been spared the responsibility of planning the bachelor party.

For my money, an aggravation-free bachelor party is like Bigfoot; there are people who swear they exist but I've got a lot more evidence that says they're full of shit.

Yeah. My brother.

And that's probably what I'll end up doing.

As far as I know, mine was completely aggravation free (aside from the cost)

My poor musician friends who had no money to drink with because they drank too much on tour were the aggravation. After the reception, one of them took the dollar dance money so they could get home, which was in deena's purse, and they didn't think enough to leave us cab fare to get to our honeymoon. Luckily we were at an all inclusive.

Yeah, i'm guessing chad's right, but still, chris might have seen bigfoot.

My worst bachelor party experience involved deep sea fishing.

Friday night drove down to Grand Isle,La. We had some crabs. Drank some beer. Acted stupid. Went to bed at 2. Woke up 4 Am to get on the boat. Roughest day I've ever been on the water. Even one of the non-hungover deck hands got sick. I spent the day lying down on a cushion on the deck, only getting up to run to the side of the boat to puke.

This is a different group of friends - non-children related.

Thankfully, they're pretty easily entertained so I don't have to come up with a really great idea. It will involve golf, however, which is completely ridiculous.

And if you want to drive a bunch of dudes around for the night, I'll get your Reds ticket and dinner at Hoffbrau. And all the ginger ale you can drink!

I mean, aside from getting basically stiffed by a bunch of skags, the Bach Party for Hassler's Sham Marriage went off without a hitch.

As did mine as far as I know. I guess it helps when you bring a level of professionalism and a line of credit.
