Various Artists: Young, Gifted and Black

Trojan Records has a ton of box sets of reggae cuts on the market, most in 3 CD economy pak format with tons of music and pretty much no liner notes and minimal art. This one is a bit different. It is a more careful selection of bigger hits and is just a 2 disc set with some fancy packaging and liner notes tossed into the deal. Most people will at least recognize some of these tunes, many remade with more exposure off the island, like Cherry O Baby, Red, Red Wine, A Message to You Rudy, Tide Is High and more. Lots of old style ska stuff, most of the collection comes from the 60s and early 70s. If you wanna check out this era, this is a strong contender for the collection to get.

Nadja - Bliss Torn from Emptiness.

gosh , i love this band.

Quote:
Product Description
"Imagine Jesu, but dosed to the gills on Prozac, a shiny happy Godfleshian dirge, or a My Bloody Valentine riff looped and repeated forever, underpinned by some Can drum loop at 16 rpm, or a Teenage Filmstars 45 played at 33. This is epic ultradoom metal, but with the metal replaced by soft billowy clouds of fuzzy distortion, the howling fury twisted into dreamlike tranquility, the blasting beats pulled apart and sprinkled here and there like percussive raindrops. This is as soft and pretty as a dirge-y drone can get while still retaining its inherent doomic mass. Utter and absolute loveliness drenched in a thick patina of crushing heaviness. Impossible but perfect." -- AQUARIUS RECORDS

How is this? Their first one was kind of a guilty pleasure for me. I wasn't even aware they had another one...
