They opened for Kings Of Leon Friday night, and sucked so bad, that I was pissed off the rest of the night. KOL were decent, but for some reason, 2 of the dudes were more worried about their fucking hair than anything else.

So who the fuck listens to BRMC? Please explain to me why? That shit was TERRIBLE.

I liked their first one because it sounded like Jesus and Mary Chain...they've pretty much gone progressively downhill for me since then though.

ever since I found out that they're neither black, rebelious, nor motorcycle riders, I have been irreparably disappointed.

Truth in advertising.

Their latest, Baby 81, was lackluster. I've dug the 1st three releases. I actually sold back Baby 81.

I think Kings of Leon suck and yes, they are primadonnas.

I semi-support them because the Been dude is the son of the Been dude from The Call, whom I talked to for an entire 90 seconds one time backstage at a concert in the mid 80's. So it's like getting behind family or something, yeah.

I like both bands okay, but I wouldn't cross the street to see a show by either.

see, the singer and drummer seemed to be genuine, but the other 2 fucks looked waaaaay too MTV ready, and were doing this gay shit with their hair and mouths.

still some fine music though.

BRMC fans tended to be rockabilly clowns it seemed, with the rolled up Fonzie sleeves and cheesy slick hair.

I've noticed that their new one hasn't gotten too much love around here, but it's one of my favs...definitely a top 5'er for me

never seen them live though...they don't strike me as showmen and I could see them copping the too-cool-for-school attitude

brmc was a la band that i followed for their first 2 albums because they were a local fave:

thought howl made them sound like a different band, with the exception of the track "weight of the world." baby 81 is ok, but i liked their sound of their first 2 albums better.

every time i've seen them live, they have been great.

they just produced a new record for another la band called gliss that's similar to their 1st 2 albums and definitely up the jamc alley... i should probably post something up on atad.

I really like their debut album. Didn't care much for their 2nd. They changed their sound for Howl, which I actually kind of like as well. Haven't really given the new one much of a chance yet.

I've seen them live a few times---the first time opening for GBV. What a great show all around. The next couple of times I saw them they didn't do a lot for me, but weren't terrible.

And as far as annoying fans, KOL fans have it all over BRMC fans (present company excluded of course). Granted, the only time I've seen KOL was at Coachella last year, but the crowd for their show were some of the most obnoxious fans I've been unfortunate enough to be around.

yeah i thought the new brmc album was pretty awful. i only like their first 2 and don't really have any desire to see them live, unless it's for free.

I'm with Shawn. New one is great. I also really like the second one.

Good stuff on the first 3 Call LPs. I used to rock the friggin' house with "Everywhere I Go" (about 160 bpm). Now that's another chestnut you can pull out for your "retro '80s" nights. ;)

I like The Call. Yeah they were anthemic, but GOOD anthemic.

I should do a mix with bands like The Call, Aslan, Balaam & The Angel -- all those "rock is a holy message" bands from the 80's.

It'll make some people cringe and others raise up lighters with lil' Jesus Fish stickers on 'em.

I liked Howl quite a bit.

I saw BRMC a looooong time ago before the first record was out, they were technically opening for the Dandy Warhols but had to go on after the Dandys played their set due to the String Cheese Incident show upstairs running long...they did a 30 minute set with these powerful white lights and kicked ass...

Saw them again after the 2nd album came out...they had a minor hit by this point and were headlining with 90 minute sets...not nearly as good as before and everything began to sound the same after 6 songs.

some bands were just not meant to play more than 30-45 minute sets...

Did those two have the super-tapered jeans that their mom apparently has to fit for them since they can't buy them that tight?

It's kind of reiterating what most people have said, but I liked the first couple quite a bit and since then I keep wanting to like them more than I ultimately do.

Or, actually, I like them when I'm listening to them, but seem to instantly forget about them when the CD is finished.

Now here's another '80s band I never see mentioned (till now!). I always dug "I Love The Things You Do To Me" - it's even on an old mix tape. :) I have "The Greatest Story Ever Told" on vinyl as well but have not listened to it in decades easy. Is this on CD or should I encode it for those interested?
