I'm looking for some suggestions for a '70s-style sort of ironic mix of guilty pleasures. You know - cheese, but the good cheese. Lately, when I've been DJing, I've been slipping in some stuff that fits the bill once a night, stuff like ELO - Evil Woman, Wings - Jet, Fleetwood Mac - Second Hand News. It's been fun and people like it.

Any other ideas? 10CC? J. Geils? I don't fucking know. Andrew Gold? I'll up it when it's done.

Not really 70's but...Michael McDonald.

Although his Doobie Brothers contributions might've been late-70's.

If you want to get REAL kitschy, throw in the Star Wars theme.
Or "A Fifth Of Beethoven" (from the Saturday Night Fever sdrk.)

It's hard to describe. I mean, I wouldn't be caught dead playing "The Gambler" but Hall & Oates "Rich Girl" is great.

How about:
Elvis Costello - "Allison"
Ramones - "Blitzkreig Bop"
Talking Heads - "Psycho Killer"

(assuming that you're sticking to the hits.)

This is pretty much 2/3rds of the format at the station I work for.

That and 80's kitsch like Christopher Cross.

Yacht Rock but in the north woods.

"Brandy" by Looking Glass

Maxine Nightingale, "Right Back Where We Started From"
Cornelius Bros. & Sister Rose, "Treat Her Like A Lady"
Dr. Hook & the Medicine Show, "Cover of the Rolling Stone"
King Harvest, "Dancing in the Moonlight"
George Baker Selection, "Little Green Bag"
Chairmen of the Board, "Give Me Just A Little More Time"
Hamilton, Joe Frank & Reynolds, "Don't Pull Your Love"
Brewer & Shipley, "One Toke Over the Line"
Albert Hammond, "It Never Rains in Southern California"

God I have a zillion of these. I also used to play this crap some nights way back when I worked in a bar. I bet I have a dozen more at home I'm not even thinking of.
