Nebraska blew their first round game in the Big 12 tournament and got swept by Mizzou in Columbia last weekend.
Thankfully all the top three seeds in the Big 12 lost and Texas A&M lost two straight.
Supposedly Nebraska is no longer a top eight seed and opposite of Georgia right now, so we might have a major Obner showdown come June.
what a reversal of fortunes. Nebraska will come to LSU if they both win their regionals.
Cool, Nebraskans love LSU when it comes to Baseball, but there's always the chance they go with Nebraska due to the facilities here. It's usually based on a bid system that tends to favor the higher seed.
Nebraska got a fairly decent regional with Eastern Illinois, Oral Roberts and UC Irvine coming here. Irvine is the only team that scares me, but the Huskers are damn good at home.
I hate to tell ya, man, but there's no way they don't have the super-regional in Baton Rouge
if both teams advance. It's the last year in Alex Box and they won't let it sit empty if there's something big on the line.
Oh, I don't doubt it. I was just saying that due to the quality of facilities here, we had a slim chance. Haymarket Park has earned a reputation as being one of the best minor league/collegiate facilities in the country. It has won best field or something along those lines several times this past decade.
It is actually called Hawks Field due to a big money donor.
Here is the wikipedia blurb on it:
Hawks Field is named for one of the primary donor families that contributed to the construction of the baseball stadium. It has a playground down the right field line. Hawks field is the first collegiate venue to use the SubAir system which can heat and cool the field year round.[citation needed] It was selected as the best playing surface in each of its six years of existence.[citation needed] In November of 2007, Hawks Field won the Baseball Field of the Year Award in the College/University division by the Sports Turf Managers Association (STMA) for the second time.[citation needed] The field earned its first honor in 2003 and is the only college park in the country to be a two-time winner.[citation needed]
