David Ruffin - The Unreleased Album

Ruffin, an all around crack head all-star, left the Temptations for a solo career. He recorded mostly uneven records for Motown. For some reason this, which is easily his best album was never released. Some believe it wasn't released because he was such a crackhead that Motown execs hated him and didn't want to see him have success. Others think that Motown had Marvin Gaye's What's Going On in the pipeline and didn't want to distract from that release. If you like Motown R&B, this album will be your thing.

Nice.

If "The Temptations" is playing on vH1 classic I always get sucked in.

The make him out to be the biggest asshole of all time (and cokehead)

Dude could belt it out though.

I've probably seen it 10 times even though I've never willing wanted to watch it once. You're flipping channels and its like, "not the temptations again" and 1 hour later you're still watching it.

Man, I love this fucking movie. Such a compelling story and some better-than-expected acting.

Thanks for the Ruffin album. Totally digging it on this beautiful day.

It almost makes you wonder what else Motown is sitting on in their vault if they have the luxury of sitting on something this good.

I doubt anyone with any power at (current) Motown even knows they own stuff like this. Nevertheless, looking forward to checking this out...

I was listening to this on my way in to work today and just want to say how fantastic it is.

This is really a genre I need to delve deeper in to. My collection has exactly one album of this nature: this one. Unless you count the Jackie Brown soundtrack. Then I'm up to a whopping 2.

Well, without hearing it, I agree that there's no way it will sell as much as DriveShaft.

I'm definitely intrigued by this. I don't know when I will get to listening to it, but thanks for posting it.
