I just heard a song from the new record on the radio last night ("Neon Beanbag") and it was freaking awesome. Had pretty much everything that I loved about them from the Mars Audiac Quintet era.

Is the rest of the album as good?
Should I bother picking it up? (Haven't grabbed anything from them since Dots and Loops disappointed me.)

I anticipate and appreciate your responses.

It's a pretty solid album, and pretty consistent (same-y) throughout. It sounds like very typical Stereolab to me - nothing new except for a few nuances here and there.

I guess it's a little more in the vein of their old stuff than their last couple of albums have been.

i'm not a big enough fan to compare it to their older stuff...but i definitely like it a lot more than their last couple records. while it still retains that obvious stereolab "sound", i find it to be way less same-y than what i've come to expect from them. good stuff.

I wasn't impressed with this one, it's decent, but not great. Their sounds has gotten tinny and thin lately. Margarine Eclipse is ten times better than Chemical Chords.

i picked this up yesterday and i think it's pretty good. not quite great, which i was lead to believe it would be. meanwhile, i never thought i would buy another stereolab record. a real shocker.

I still have yet to digest this one. Jeez I'm way behind on this year's releases.
