But do the toms still sound like someone's beating wet paper bags with a rolled up newspaper?

I'm tempted to blame the lack of fills on Rock Band. RB fills have some technical issues related to hardware latency. And if it hasn't happened already, I think its just a matter of time before labels start recording with these games firmly in mind. I also expect to see a virtual absence of keyboards/synth in popular music over the next 5 years.
