Who was the scumbag? She's not in trouble for getting the trooper (who was definitely a scumbag and should have been fired) fired--I'm not sure he ever even was fired. The person who got fired was the Public Safety Commissioner who didn't fire the trooper.

I don't know who the guy is, the article says he was fired due to a budget dispute. Where does the scumbag claim come from?

I think there are a some legitimate issues here. Even if it wasn't illegal, abuse of power is a cause for concern. Additionally, it once again raises questions of McCain's judgment when he chose an unvetted unknown for his running mate.

Ultimately its just a sideshow though.

I was under the impression that the boss of the trooper was fired "over a budget dispute" while the replacement for that person fired the trooper (Palin's brother in law, I believe) who was/is "the scumbag"...?

& the replacement was gone within three weeks due to a sexual harassment complaint &/or similar misconduct.

(It appears, then, that Palin vets her hires as well as Johnny Walnuts!.)
