Tricky: Knowle West Boy
Hard to say with this album. I'd say feelings on it will depend how you've viewed his career in the first place. If you're one of those who've had no use for him post Maxinquaye, you aren't too likely to find much here to change your mind. But, if you're more like me and have enjoyed most of his releases and think the idea he's Maxinquaye and nothing else good is just silliness, then you'll find another enjoyable Tricky release and probably one of the better ones at that. All the usual influences crop up, from claustrophobic electronic undercurrents, ragga, smoky female vocals and the rest. I'd say this one strikes a nice balance between the poppy leanings of some of the things on Blowback and Vulnerable with some of the more tangled sounds of things like Angels with Dirty Faces.
