He must be getting party feedback, particularly from other Senators, about how the rise of the nasty in recent days can do more harm than good.

The party's in danger of switching from Jesus to Jethro and looks like some leaders know it.

first reaction is, yes, that it's a good thing mccain is attempting to quell these near-riots or whatever's happening at his rallies. but he and palin, especially her, have let this go on for so long that some of their more wacko supporters have taken their inaction as approval.

If you see the clip on tv, the interplay is a little more complex than this. He cut her off mid-sentence and his 'no' was not directed at her statement, but at her. He saw where she was going and stopped her.

Personally, I think the issue here isn't whether McCain was trying to incite a riot. Its' that he had no clue what was going on during his rallies. Palin knew what was happening, but he was totally in the Reagan zone.

He meant he couldn't believe the hairstyle (or lack thereof) of the woman who called him and Arab. She looked like a extra for "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest".

don't we have checks and balances and the power to override his veto and also impeach him?

i guess there are a lot of intricate and long-vibrationing details that would make such a thing more important than i'm making it out to be. but c'mon, this country is not run by one man, it's the work of a team.

os - i plan on adding "long-vibrationing" to my everyday vocabulary as well.
