The publisher will also confirm that Radiohead had made more money before ‘In Rainbows’ was physically released than they made in total on the previous album ‘Hail To the Thief’. It should be pointed out that Radiohead’s existing digital income was of course low, because they had withheld licensing the likes of iTunes.

The topline figure, though, is that there were three million purchases of In Rainbows, including physical CDs, box-sets, and all downloads - including those from the band’s own website and from other digital music stores.

I don't own any Radiohead albums, and I've never heard one in it's entirety. I plan to keep it that way, bitches!

I wonder how many people are counted twice in that 3 million figure. I imagine I am, since I downloaded it from their site (for $0.00) and then purchased the physical CD.

Probably about 10 diehard Radiohead fans make up those $3 million purchases.

that wouldn't be twice since you didn't pay for it.

I bet even free downloads from their website are counted. It does say ALL downloads in the article, and if I were a band and could count free authorized downloads as a sale, I'd do it, to inflate the numbers.
