I'm really hoping to pop down for a couple of days this year. That is, provided I can reserve a spot on the floor at Chez Deenajjapu.

Every year I say that this will be the year I finally make it...
Every year, something happens and I don't attend...
Why change things?

I am so there, this year!
Waterloo here i come!

I am officially placing myself in SXSW semi-retirement. Until I get myself settled with kids and adoption, visits to the land of music and honey will need to be put on hold.

It's mind boggling to me my visit was 5 years ago.

I really might show up this year too

All are welcome.

One guest queen, one comfy couch, one queen airmattress, plenty of sleeping bag space.

You want to throw in on groceries, i'll cook. Can't afford it, i'll still cook.

We have two friendly dogs, please don't be allergic to them.

Dibs on the queen! :)

Chez Deenajjapu is without a doubt the awesomest place to be.

Hey Phil, will you take that week off again to join in on the festivities?

i always have that week off, it's spring break. The school system doesn't even try and compete.

Wait till the end of January beginning of Feb when that 1000+ list of bands is announced.

Perhaps your tune will change.

I guess the thing is that it's the sort of festival where you have to plan your attendance way in advance ... months like I did with my first SXSW experience last year and just stick with it.

Just hype yourself up for the eventual awesomeness that is that week.

not really, i won't end up going. if i do end up going to any festival next year, it will be mutek or coachella. and coachella is even questionable at this point....

How does SXSW work? One "main" stage and then lots of showcases in clubs around the city? How do you go about finding showcase listings and getting tickets for them?

One main street with tons of clubs, surrounding streets with more clubs, the convention center, certain parks, restaurants, rooftops, hotels hosting other acts. There is no 'main stage'.

As the dates draw nearer, SXSW will post the various acts performing at each venue with times.

While tickets are sold, your best bet is a music badge or wristband.

boozin from noon to sunrise. i've seen more deathset shows in one year than actual sxsw showcases in two. off sxsw parties tend to be way more fun.

Maryland Death Fest is so much more interesting than the lineup posted above.
