...and decide whether to keep them on there or not.

I've got way too much shit on it and I'd like to put other stuff on there that I'd be more inclined to listen to more often. I guess I'll just go through it in alphabetical order and post a little review or whatever. So tomorrow I should have reviews for !!! Myth Takes, 8 Bit Operators 8 Bit Tribute To Kraftwerk, 65 Days Of Static One Time For All Time and IV Thieves If We Can't Escape My Pretty. Not sure if I'll make it into the A's.

I'll try and include some photo essays.

I probably have at least 200 albums on there. Along with a bunch of single tracks, which is really a mess to get through.

This will happen but reviews probably won't be posted until later in the day since I'll be listening to most of these at work.

Ok so today I listened to...

Image

!!! Myth Takes I'd only heard the first single from this and have had it downloaded since before the album came out but never listened to it. I liked it and think it's probably their most cohesive album so far, though some of the songs get a little jam band-ish at time. Best song - Must Be The Moon Keep

Code:

Image

8-Bit Operators An 8-Bit Tribute To Kraftwerk I've really never listened to Kraftwerk so I don't know how faithful these are to the originals but they were pretty fun to listen to while I was playing it but I really couldn't remember any of the songs afterwards. Apparently all the artists on here used old video game systems for instruments. Best song - Bit Shifter Antenna Toss

Code:
http://www.sendspace.com/file/b4pgj1

Image

65 Days Of Static One Time For All Time I generally don't like instrumental bands. I guess I just get bored without vocals to distract me or something. I do like Holy Fuck though and this band kind of sounds like them. They have a lot of electronic elements to their sound but it's a bit more epic sounding than Holy Fuck. Best song - Await Rescue
Keep

Code:
http://www.sendspace.com/file/14o6zk

Image

IV Thieves If We Can't Escape My Pretty So they used to be called Nic Armstrong & The Thieves but for this album they all took turns at writing the songs and singing so they changed their name. This album seemed to fly by while I was listening to it and I don't know if that's good or bad. There's only one song over 4 minutes. I guess I liked it but don't really remember much from it. I actually bought this when I was in Austin so maybe I'll give the actual cd a spin and see if it sticks. Maybe Nic should take over the band again. Best song - All The Time Toss

Code:
http://www.sendspace.com/file/8q06n1

Image

Aa Gaame I'd never heard of these guys and remember Whiney coming up and raving about them at his Paper Thin Walls SXSW showcase. So they have 3 drummers (!) keyboards and shouting/chanting. (I think?) I guess I'd compare it to Black Dice or Liars but I enjoyed this more than either of their latest albums. Best song - Good Ship Keep

I own this. I should really give it a full listen.

If you liked the Liars latest, you'd enjoy this.

ABC The Lexicon Of Love Why I don't own this album, I have no idea. As far as 80's new wave-ish shit goes this is tops. Also, I think I downloaded a shitty version of it because I have to turn the volume up a lot just to hear it. Best song - hard to choose just one...either Broken Arrow or Tears Are Not Enough Keep

Tears Are Not Enough

Ad Astra Per Aspera Catapult Calypso Ok I'm confused. I thought that this band had changed their name from Aspera. I have the Aspera album Sugared & Feathered and it sounds nothing like this. Aspera sounds more like Mercury Rev/Flaming Lips while this band sounds like early Rapture with alternating Blood Brothers and falsetto vocals. The guitars sound really good on this. Best song - Voodoo Economics Keep

Excellent.

You have to track down their 1983 album down too, if you like that one.

didn't work the weekend. but today...

Aereogramme My Heart Has A Wish That You Would Not Go So I guess this is the album they changed their sound a bit on? I only have Sleep & Release and I haven't listened to it in forever so I don't really remember what they were like. Heavier, I think? This album kind of sounds like Snow Patrol if they weren't trying to write hit singles. I thought Craig B sounded like Gary Lightbody on more than a few tracks. Maybe it's just cause they're both Scottish. Best song - Nightmares Keep

Code:
http://www.sendspace.com/file/5q4u5g

Image

The Afghan Whigs Unbreakable: A Retrospective I don't know what it is but I like the Whigs a lot more than The Twilight Singers. There's a ton of good tracks on this. I like how Crime Scene Part 1 segues perfectly into Faded. The 2 new tracks are pretty good too and I had to look them up when I got home to find out which ones they were. There's a few omissions but I think this is more for casual fans. I'd just be a retard and go buy all their albums. Best song - Be Sweet Keep

Air Pocket Symphony

This put me to sleep while I was delivering mail. Least sucky song - I guess Mer du Japon Toss

Alex Delivery Star Destroyer I don't think Pitchfork's review of this as prog was a good summation of their sound. Some of the songs are just long which doesn't automatically translate into prog. I saw they listed that band Iran in there as sort of an RIYL and think that's more on point. To me, it mainly sounds sort of industrial and not really in a heavy Ministry type way but that it sounds like they recorded the album in a factory with machines clanging away. It's interesting, but a bit hard to totally get in one listen. Best song - Komad Keep

Code:

Image

All Smiles Ten Readings Of A Warning So this is Jim Fairchild's (ex-Grandaddy) new project and it definitely sounds like a less keyboard/more guitar version of that band. Guitar solos break through the mainly semi-acoustic songs at the strangest points but it seems to work. It was definitely an easier listen than the previous album. Best song - I Know It's Wrong Keep

Code:
http://www.sendspace.com/file/yub6oj

Image

Lily Allen Alright, Still Do I even need to write a review of this? I'm sure everyone's heard it by now. I had it at #8 in my best of 2006 but after listening to it again I'd probably drop it a few spots. This is just the import version without the extra tracks the US version had. Also, I had a folder of her demo versions in my IRiver after this but I'm not gonna bother reviewing that, save to say, that I like the cleaned up versions better. Best song - Smile Keep (tho I might rip the US version to here instead)

Aloe Blacc Shine Through This could be a great album if he edited it a bit. The cover of Sam Cooke's A Change Is Gonna Come is amazing. Multitracked chorus, harp and his verses (with a ton of echo on it) combine to make it one of the better covers I've ever heard. The album falters slightly after that. I could do without his rapping, it's pretty generic and the last 2 latin/salsa songs didn't really do anything for me. He's a much better singer than rapper. I should just edit this down to what I like. Best song - Long Time Coming (tho I liked I'm Beautiful, sappy as it is, too.) Keep

Yeah, I'd like answers as well. Its certainly, for one reason or another, an industry I seemingly wouldn't mind getting into. True or false.

Thanks.

Yeah I am...it's alright.

Pros: Decent pay & benefits, not in an office most of the day, co-workers are good for the most part.

Cons: Management are borderline retarded and have ridiculous standards, being in the office in the morning sucks, basically useless union, some co-workers are among the most annoying people I've ever met though that's easily remedied by wearing headphones.

did you have to pass a test of memorizing every road in your area?

no, the test was pretty much just matching and memorizing random streets, number, etc. it was pretty easy.
