Yeah, the old Flip Wilson show was great. Why did he seemingly fall off the face of the earth after that? Whatever happened to him? He was like the original Eddie Murphy.

I always like watching reruns of this show when they're on.

my stepmom saw him at the spectrum at the height of his fame - said he was one of the most vulgar comedians she'd ever seen. then again, she's only seen a few comedians.

He quit his show...
to raise his daughter.

Figured that he made enough cash to keep everyone comfortably fed and housed for the rest of their lives. And he didn't want to miss raising his kids. Guess he made some investments too, that apparently panned out pretty well.

So, how much more do you love him now?

(Heard this in an interview he did on NPR a few years back.)

Cool!!
He was my favourite comedian when I was a kid.
"Geraldine and killer" cracked me up, as did "...the devil made me do it."

Haven't seen his show since then.

Thanks for the memory gig,

Bill

When I was little, my mom bought my sister and I a talking Flip Wilson doll. You'd pull the string from his back and hear Flip say, "I smell a rat and the wind is coming from your direction".

Watched this last week with my wife.
She fought me on it, at first ("We really don't think a lot of the same stuff is funny, Todd...") But once Geraldine came out, it was all over.

Good times.
