One could almost say that there were two albums birthed from the sessions for Six -- the one with the long, entangled songs that eventually comprised the final album and another one with far poppier and aggressively lean songs. Sometimes I think Mansun would have been better off simply holding many of these songs for future release as a proper album; they deserved better than their ultimate fate as single-fillers. The best of the lot are the ode to déjà vu "Been Here Before" and the horror-filled house-of-mirrors that is "I Care".

I always remember liking their B-sides quite a bit and have everyone from the Six sessions except “Legacy part 2.” I’m going to have to dig out and see if it’s as good as this guy says it is.

I know Borg is a huge fan, much bigger than myself, so I posted this incase he or other fans missed it. The author actually thinks they made the best album of all time and it’s cool to see that kind of passion. There is quite a big fan base for this band and do agree that Six was their best album. I never exactly knew what happen to them, so the history lesson was informative as well.

Jesus, I have 20 singles by these guys.

np: I Am Kloot- s/t (filling in my British craving quite nicely)

Dunno if you're familiar with a local LA band called "Run Run Run", but for awhile Mansun's guitarist played with 'em.

Thanks for the article. I actually learned a few things from it as well!

It's interesting how the writer notes Six as his favorite album of all time because that album was #1 on my Listmania. I hope that Paul Draper continues to write music in the future, even if he simply becomes a solo artist instead of forming a new band. He kind of reminds me of Gregg Alexander of the New Radicals in the sense that they tasted mainstream success if only for a moment, yet the general population never really knew what to make of them.
