Good luck with your quest!

It's been years since I wanted to read music writings. I remember when that's all I ever wanted to read about. I should pick one of these up and see if that wakes up old passions.

Without having read any of these, I am assuming that these are written by people with the writing skills of your average Pitchfork record reviewer. If by some miracle greater than Christ's Virgin Birth they do have good writing, I am assuming they are covering records I am not interested in.

I've skimmed through the Murmur book, and it was pretty well-written. My friend J. does have his masters from U. of Chicago and actually makes a living as a writer. So that one, I can vouch for.

I think pitchfork styled writing killed my passion for reading about music.

I think the paradox is that anyone who can write anything worth a damn ain't gonna be fucking around writing about music.

I have obtained the opening sentence of the one for White Blood Cells:

"She represents innocence and beauty, he is the amalgamation of 20th century rock and roll through the prism of Robert Johnson and Bob Dylan -- he has been to the Crossroads and stole Meg from the Devil. "

Anyone got a Budd Dwyer gif I can borrow?

And Todd, thanks for the well wishes, but I already missed the first cut.
