has anyone seen this movie the room? i'm curious if it's as awesomely bad as it promises to be. apparently it's got a cult following in l.a. the actor/writer/director also seems like a really strange guy who funded the whole thing with $6million of his own money. . .

that story has a couple of clips. . . here's one more, my favorite. . . http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wi_ioe64Z5k

and here's the trailer: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yCj8sPCWfUw

There is a huge billboard on La Cienega that I passed every time I went to Amoeba in college (a lot). After years of subliminal advertising, I finally gave in and checked it out with a bunch of friends, and yes, it is pretty amazingly bad in an amazingly good way. I have also seen it once in the theater (where Tommy Wisseau shows up every month and answers questions about the film).

I would recommend it, but you definitely need to watch it with a bunch of people.

there was a piece in entertainment weekly about this movie a couple of months ago. i kind of want to see it but i'm guessing it's not going to be playing around the country.

yeah read that ew piece. . . apparently that billboard was personally financed. . . as was the rest of it. i think it made less than $2000 in it's original release. now, wiseau is playing it off like it's a joke/black comedy.

it's like that guy that did the over the top lord of the rings-style music video for his own horrible song (it was posted here but can't remember his name). it's amazing lengths some folks will go with a little derangement and lust for fame.

that billboard (i don't know if it's still there now) had to have been there for well over 3 years.

He self-financed the whole thing, which cost him something in the range of $6 million. He also shot the entire movie in both HD and film so he could decide afterward which one looked better.

Did you happen to watch Tim & Eric's Awesome Show on Sunday? Tommy Wiseau was the guest director.

HERE's a link to several skits starring Wiseau. FYI - For some reason the Adult Swim videos don't show up in Firefox, so I have to go back to IE.

for less than the cost of seeing a movie in teh theater it can be yours and you can have your own private screening. i suggest seeing it with multiple people. . . much funnier experience that way.
