considering my lack of success in this league over the last six years, i tried to approach drafting differently than in the past. unfortunately, i'm terribly disappointed because i ended up with the same type of team that i normally do - young pitching that's heavy on unproven starters, middle relievers, and injury-prone arms; offense built around 1-3 stars, a couple has-beens or one-year wonders (though some taken relatively late), and a lack of infield depth that will plague my team when someone hot goes on the 60-day DL.

i like bits and pieces of mine but it's tough to get excited about players #350-416 of the draft.

i went all offense until round 11 and I feel like my team is pretty good for a 16 team league. i need some things to happen for sure, but have a good shot every week

Felt that way before I drafted Willy Tavares...

If ARod actually shows up this year, I have both him and Pujos... So I'll do great in a # of categories.

Autodraft messed me up both times I was locked out / timed out during the draft, but hopefully I should be OK.

I feel like my lineup is lacking in more spots than I'd like, and aside from two good starters, I'm not so excited about my pitching staff.

I guess most people probably feel like this with a league as deep as this, should be an interesting year, I've never done divisions though.

The draft thingie was cool, I haven't been at an online draft in a few years, it seems like they made a lot of cool improvements.

you're a little lacking in the power deptartment, and you've got a few young unproven guys, but I like your team, actually.

April 6th is opening day.

Maybe for you sir, but not for me. I believe that most leagues are won in picks #300-416

this is correct. but i still think it's tough to get excited when a lot of those spots are players who may not even be playing every day if they're even with the major league club for a full season.

I think the middle rounds are actually the most important, because there's still risk involved at that stage. The middle rounds are when you fill out most of your starting roster, and if you start reaching here for players who don't pan out, you're screwed.

Generally, there's really not that much risk during the end rounds because you already have most of your starters picked, so if no one pans out it's not really a big deal. Yeah, it's great if you find a gem this late, but not doing so won't kill you.

I don't know about that. My guess is most of the people (90%) of the people picked in the last 4 rounds will be dropped during the season for waiver guys and FA picks. About 6 of those guys will pan out and maybe 1 or 2 may actually be very good (which essentially will only help cover up any misses earlier in the draft). I took some hold and steals guys because I won't feel conflicted dropping them later (hoping for the upside) when people start breaking out and others get called up. We'll see.

We should have all of the team names with their respective obner owner names listed somewhere. You guys who constantly change your team names (not to mention obner names) confuse me.

my relievers are horrible, but my starters seem like they could be really strong.

Now Ryan Howard's slumps will be doubly frustrating to me, but his epic streaks will be doubly awesome.

nah, I like to go with one catcher and take the chance he'll be healthy.
