Looks like there's two new DBT albums coming one of which is "big, fun rock record", plus his solo album coming in June ("a bit of a power-pop record") plus his concept album about LBJ.

Nice, I'm looking forward to it all.

*edit* I should also add that I've heard rumblings about Nine West putting out a rarities/b-sides comp of their material called "The Fine Print".

Not to mention the ACL performance...

Good time to be a DBT fan.

Hood's last solo record isn't something I reach for a lot, there's still some quality material on there.

New DBT record=another tour which I'm completely down with.

Yeah I immediately thought of you when I read about the concept album. Really curious about his solo record this June too.

I found this disc in the fitty-cent bin Image and it sounds like he's just learning to play guitar on it.

Terrible.

As I understand it, that album was more cathartic than anything.

All this LBJ talk has got me wanting to find the old framed pic from 1971-72 of LBJ addressing one of the PoliSci classes taught by my Dad at LBJ's alma mater (from which I also matriculated). If I can dig it out of storage, I'll scan it and post it. Probably most notable for documenting my Dad's brief, but memorable, "mutton chop" phase.

PH: It’s going to be a big, fun rock record. We’re all pretty committed to the next one being pretty rock. The last record certainly had its big rock moments, but at the same time, a lot of it was pretty introspective and had a spooky mood. I thrive on that, but I’d like to see this one come out of the gate pretty much as a barnstormer. I think it’s time for us to make one of those kind of records.

I'm ready for turn-of-the-century DBT to come viscerally blasting through in 2009. Back when it was punk rock with a slurred Alabama twang.

I think A Blessing and Curse kind of gave me a DBT hangover so I slept on Brighter Than Creation Dark. I've been playing it a lot lately and it's probably their best so far. I'm jazzed for their new projects.
