I was disappointed when I went to it last year, but I'll give it another shot.

I think the best thing my local store did was 10% off their entire stock, but I don't even know if they're doing that again.

i'll be at Coachella, and supposedly they're doing a special Record Store Day shindig at the Virgin store on the prems. They'll hold your vinyl for you until you're ready to leave.

Autographed Franz Ferdinand records son.

The record stores around here are having little mini festival sorta things. I'll probably hit up the place where they got Jason of Jason & The Scorchers playing and they're selling beer and bar-b-q.

this is cool that all these bands are participating, but i thought it was kinda bad scheduling for coachella to be this same weekend since just about everyone at coachella's the type of person who'd be visiting shops for record store day.

I went to Criminal Records Record Store day thing last year here in Atlanta and it was pretty cool. Saw The Coathangers, Anna Kramer and the Lost Cause, and Noot d' Noot. They had a whole outdoor stage going on.

PBR was a sponsor of the thing so there was cheap beer but I thought they could do better than that with so many good local breweries here.

I've checked around and can't find the line up for this year's yet. I'll be down there though at some point.

Looking forward to the Wilco and the MMJ.
But I will probably pick up the Flaming Lips/Black Keys as well.
Especially after this video of The Flaming Lips covering Madonna:

Last year's highlight was drinking a beer while record shopping. Also, great sales but too many lines.

I might be out of town and have to miss out this time.

Good shit. I actually saw 'em twice that weekend. At Lenny's Bar the night before opening for the Selmanaires.

I'm sure there are bands like theirs in every big city where they're aping the same schtick but they're cute enough to pull it off for now.

Something about chicks singing simple songs about "nestling in my boobies","punching girls in the twat", and "don't touch my shit" is pretty appealing. It all seems like an inside joke and tossed off but done in a punk rock DIY style that seems genuine.

Haven't heard the new one yet. It's been getting mixed reviews so far.

A RECORD being a recording, not just a piece of grooved vinyl.
