Had the stereo blaring since 8.00am. I must be loved in the building.

Re: Bill Callahan, I know its environmentally positive and all that but these thin, garbage-y cardboard sleeves (you couldn't call it a case) are a bunch of bullshit.

Surely someone can come up with something better that doesn't involve hydro-carbons.

Willie Dixon: The Chess Box

First of all, it's listed as a Willie Dixon compilation, but most of Dixon's major work was as a producer, songwriter and bass player for Chess records when it was defining Chicago blues and he was writing blues standard after blues standard. So, while Willie features in some capacity on every track, you get lots of big time performers like Muddy Waters, Howlin' Wolf, and Little Walter. The variety of performers shows a variety of styles and keeps this an interesting listen from start to finish. Personally, I'd have liked to have it included a couple more tunes with Dixon at the mike, but it's hard to argue against this set as an excellent example of the importance of Chess records in general and Willie Dixon specifically in the development of the blues in the windy city.

This album is growing on me actually. It'll never be a classic, but an interesting curio in the Neil Young catalogue.

its good. they expanded their sound a little bit (its on In The Red) but not too much. it's still clearly a Blank Dogs record. I don't know, don't love it like a couple of his other releases, but it's worth keeping around if you like the band.

i had a nice re-mix by ewan pearson of one of her tracks for a while now, but never really looked any further. just assumed she was some kind of techno-diva type. anyways, saw her new album on a blog and it mentioned a duet with jim james which made me re-consider my assumptions. glad i did, her stuff is excellent. i did a search and saw that you and nico were pimping her a few years ago. lesson learned: pay closer attention to the stu.

i thought there were a few good songs but the record is overly long (15 songs).
