so what has everyone been digging on this year? i just got that Friendly Fires album and i'm in love. it's perfect summer music with some of the best songs i have heard this year. also bought the new Phoenix (album of the year so far) and Grizzly Bear's album this week. also digging that Lindstrom and Prins, the Fields, Fever Ray and Dan Deacon albums. disappointed with that new Junior Boys album though. on the more rock side i like the new Wilco, the Pains of Being Pure at Heart and Super Furry Animals have released a great, great album this year. the Yeah Yeah Yeahs only ended up being alright.

Because you have to start every thread with "ILX is ________ so I'm back around here." I'm not even a regular here, at least not compared to the big posters, and I still think you're a huge douche for doing that shit.

You're a regular, DDR. Don't short sell yourself.

Welcome back, Bee. Say hi to Simi and the gang.

Hey Bee, what's shaking?

So I'm guessing you're having a better year than I am finding music, although i've checked out most of what you wrote about.

I think the Phoenix and Wilco albums are the best I've heard this year, but I don't think they're great albums that will stand any test of time.

I feel like this year has been pretty weak so far and we're almost half way through.

Maybe the summer will have some surprise releases.

I would go ahead and recommend Wildbirds & Peacedrums and God Help The Girl but then my recommendations don't always go over well.

Welcome back Bee.

Give the YYYs more listens. It's a grower. I wasn't impressed at all at first either.

I feel like Dan Deacon is suddenly everywhere.

I'm really taking a liking to that Phoenix record - totally summer music.

Wooden Birds put out a record that has a hard time leaving my CD player. That's right: CD PLAYER. :)

And I just heard Japandroids for the first time the other day and think there's a lot to like about it.

Now go over to Phil's new thread and downloard The Black's rough mix - it's gonna be killer.
