...to start thinking about Best Album of the Decade. The '00s only have another 6.5 months to go.

I'm thinking we need to have some sort of laborious detail-intensive process implemented for this.

I've been thinking about this for two or three weeks now, but still no resolutions.

I'm not sure there can be one singular album of this or any decade. Maybe 10 or 20 that stand equal.

I was actually just toying with doing up a Top 100 singles list for the '00s.

I'm thinking it will end up being a battle royale between YHF and It Still Moves.

Wilco vs. MMJ in the ultimate cage match.

That's not even among the top three Spoon albums of the decade.

For the record, it goes like this:

1. GaGaGaGaGa
2. Kill The Moonlight
3. Girls Can Tell
4. Gimme Fiction

I used to think that but GF crawled in my head and has become my favorite album of this decade. I listen to it more than any other album.

GF is far and away the best Spoon album. Not even close.

I like Spoon all right and generally enjoy the albums but I'll admit I find it baffling how many of you really, really love them.

And let's not forget Radiohead, too. I think they released a couple of records this decade.

I think it will the Decade thread will be endlessly hilarious.

Some of my contenders:
Joe Pisapia - Daydreams
Nick Cave - Abbatoir Blues/Lyre of Orpheus
Webb Brothers - Maroon
Raphael Saadiq - The Way I See It
Tom Zé - Estuando o Pagode
The Format - Dog Problems

Definitely. I'd probably rank Ga Ga second but it's a distant second to GF.

I can't see this board putting YHF that high anymore. The year it came out, absolutely, but I think a lot of people got YHF fatigue and I've seen people on here that have gone from disciples of that record to having open contempt for it.

For me though, that MMJ record would certainly be in my Top 10.

Yeah, I can come up with a pretty sweet Reg Rock Top 10 almost off the top of my head.

And, Room On Fire is still the best album of this decade.

Never let it be said I am not long sighted.

Ten years of toil. Konstantiranks 2000-2009. Coming Soon.

Like December or something.

Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga is only 201st on my list which some might say discredits it already.

A cursory look at my iPod from 2000 onwards suggests there's a lot to choose from, including Peakin' at the Beacon from the Allmans and Live at the Fillmore, Cypress Hill.

I think DBTs will rank pretty high, as they've had some heavy albums this decade:

Southern Rock Opera
Decoration Day
Dirty South
A Blessing and a Curse
Brighter Than Creation's Dark

Just for kicks I googled "best albums of 00's", and clicked through a couple of random blogs and sites. There has been a ton of incredible music come out this decade. This will be more difficult than I initially thought.

As for Spoon, I suppose I could argue for Gimme Fiction but I certainly don't think it's heads and shoulders above their other work, which to me, speaks to the quality of their records.

Kill The Moonlight is a great fucking record.

I would think she'd be the opposite
