From his blog...

Quote:
Serge said...

Marah fans, here's what I got in a nutshell. I love being a dad and cannot imagine not being around nearly every day of Violet's life for a long time to come. Like til she's old enough to carve her name in a school bus seat with a compass point.

That's that.

If I ever did play some music again it would be with my brother, probably as Marah. Other than him, I'm not interested. I haven't touched a guitar in over a year...I probably couldn't even hold my own with any band on Earth these days! I need to write some tunes for Violet though. When I do, I'll share 'em with you for a laugh...

This might sound weird or dumb, and I mean it in the most innocent way but...I have little to no interest in music anymore. I think maybe I put enough of myself into that medium. I love Marah, love my bro. Love the experiences and some of the people that rock'n'roll brought into my life. But I only listen to AC/DC and jazz and some old country these days. What can I say?....I'm old.

That's it really. I rocked. I might rock again. Right now, I'm rocking the shit out of a sweaty cold can of Diet Coke and watching The Hills. There's so many ways to rock, I'm finding out.

So I guess I'll be getting my first taste of the Serge-less Marah at the Earl later this month.

Well that kinda sucks.

Serge wasn't much of a singer, but his presence brought that unpredictable danger quality to the band. It'll be interesting to hear what happens with Dave (or Marah, hopefully) without the creepy ol' Serge vibe in the band.

Yeah, he's a certified ghoul. but I do like all of his songs except "Jesus In The Temple". Those tunes will be missed.

I doubt Dave will miss a beat.

I'm pretty impressed that you read his blog.

I always felt Dave was by far the creepier of two, and that Serge was the head-on-his-shoulders glue.

My friend saw them without Serge pretty recently and said they were great, but he had never seen them before.

I don't. I was checking their site for tour dates and saw it on their board.

Guess he just decided he'd had enough, after taking a long hard look in the Marah.

Say it ain't so Serge!

They supposedly already have a new album in the can without him.

I don't think he'll be away forever. Dude just sounds like he's tired.

whichever one wore the had and hung around the Khyber every damned day for 2 years was the creepier, I've been told by more than one source.

Same here, including never seeing them before. One of my favorite concerts of the year so far.

i never saw either at the Khyber, but I met both at New Wave and Serge was by far the friendlier of the two. Even bought me a beer.

NOT SO FAST...

Quote:
Marah's Bielanko Brothers Together Again!

Following a three year hiatus from Rock n Roll, Marah co-founder Serge Bielanko will be rejoining his brother David and Co. for a full band tour of Spain this Fall. Prior to this the brothers will perform acoustic warm-up shows together with longtime member Christine Smith. The trio is promising their fans two comprehensive, sweaty evenings of "folked up" Rock n Roll music. Plus the full band line up will rock the hell out of their local Elk Creek Cafe just before they leave for Spain.

Fri 9.2.11 Club Cafe, Pittsburgh, PA
Wed 9.14.11 Jammin Java, Vienna, VA
Sat 9.24.11 Elk Creek Cafe + Aleworks, Millheim, PA
Fri 9.30.11 Jet Lag 2011, Bilbao, Spain
Sat 10.1.11 Infierno, Vigo, Spain
Sun 10.2.11 Monkey Hall, Gijon, Spain
Tue 10.4.11 Estudio 27, Burgos, Spain
Wed 10.5.11 Heineken, Madrid, Spain
Thu 10.6.11 Totem, Pamplona, Spain
Fri 10.7.11 Loco Club, Valencia, Spain
Sat 10.8.11 Apolo 2, Barcelona, Spain

They must be moderately huge in Spain. Good news though.
