Quite a few bands I like...if they had DBT, I'd highly consider making the trip.

Read again, TOK. They have DBT - with Booker T.

Even though this is the closest festival to me I've skipped this thing every year so far, but and that's a great lineup. I'm there for sure this year!

I think it's Bumbershoot you're confusing it with.

That is one hell of a lineup. I've said it before but it bears repeating; the one trip I made to Bonnaroo in '06 is/was probably my favorite festival weekend. And I've been to more than a couple.

Grounds are open all night, so bands play into the wee hours, crowds are amazingly friendly and helpful (hippies are like that) and I just found the whole thing to be a great experience. If I had the scratch I'd go check it out this year, no doubt about it.

My broke-ass friends who spend every last cent on weed (big surprise) are trying to get me to volunteer for the fest...last year they worked like 3 hours total and got their entire deposit refunded. Some people have to work more, but either way, you get to go for free.

I was considering it for a while, but there's really only three acts I want to see on the list and I don't think it's worth it for that.

I say do it. You're young and it would be a hell of an adventure. Trust me, when you are in your thirties you will not think "man, i had a great time that one weekend when i hung out in richmond, went to work, came home, pounded a few beers and listened to records"

Have to give them credit for diversity in the line-up- great variety of talent there.

Yeah there's no "Black Kunt", "Fecal Spray", or "Kradle of Smegma".

Yea, they are announcing more artists soon, but MMJ would have to be a given, right?

I think I might be going...

Yeah, there's very little on that list to strengthen your scene cred with a bunch of dudes that have beards and read comic books.

This is probably true. I'll probably see how other summer festivals end up looking before I make any decisions. I'd definitely like to see Bruce, Robyn Hitchcock, Merle Haggard, and Booker and the DBTs (forgot about them in the above comment), but the latter three are most likely going to get stuck with short sets early in the day. The fact that Phish is playing two sets is going to bring an influx of total douchebags and I don't know if I want to be around that many sweaty, smelly people for four days unless they add another act that I really want to see.

I wonder how Al Green is now. I don't think I've heard anything he's done in past 30 years, but I'd still want to see him.

he is a parody now. i mean, his voice is still all right, but he's just going to drop the big hits. and he might even do them twice as part of a medley.

I'd be interested in all of these. Its a pretty good and diverse list of artists and includes a bunch I'd love to see but would probably never bother going to see on their own which is what a good fest should be all about.

Now if only they'd hold this only during the day in a city where there were fun things to do at night, I might actually consider going.
