This is the first round of the tournament stage. Please vote for the album that you feel should move on to the second round.

To encourage as many votes as possible, the deadline to vote will be Thursday at 1:00PM Eastern.

The Cure, out of spite.

Or indifference. Whichever.

The winner of this will face the winner of the Pogues/Built To Spill match up.

I love both records, but c'mon... it's freaking Rubber Soul!

I'm with you although I don't hold disintegration in that high regard but I do like it a lot still even if "Lovesong" is almost ubearably overplayed. "Lullaby" is one of the sexiest songs ever.

Rubber Soul, as I stated in the first thread with it, just doesn't do it for me. It's great and all but it just suffers from overexposure for me.

I fear that the further these things go the less discussion there is going to be. You can only argue for or against an album so many ways and the winners have, what, 5-6 more rounds to go? Eventually this may devolve into album XYZ is the greatest album of all time or album PDQ fucking sucks.

Hope I'm wrong though.

I have to confess, as soon as I saw this match up, I teared up a bit. :( Unfortunately, Disintegration was the second lowest seeded album.

I can't believe 22 people voted for the Cure over The Beatles Rubber Soul.

I'm shaking my head vigorously.

RS is a great album...

however the cure is one of my all-time favorite bands...and Disintegration is a masterpiece...
