This is the first round of the tournament stage. Please vote for the album that you feel should move on to the second round.

To encourage as many votes as possible, the deadline to vote will be Thursday at 2:00PM Eastern.

I fully expect Pet Sounds to come out on the short end of this one, but that's my pick, and I'm sticking with it. A perfect piece of pop heaven.

Dylan, but it's kinda close.

Both excellent, absolute top-tier albums. And completely different and almost incomparable.

There really does seem to be a silent majority in several of these polls.

I appreciate Pet Sounds on an intellectual level, and find it pretty, but it doesn't punch me in the gut the way the Dylan does. Dylan a fairly easy pick for me here.

Pet Sounds is the worst Beach Boys album. I'd rather listen to their John Stamos period.

Are we voting on artists, or albums? Just wondering because some of you give me the impression that its more about the artist and their career.

Pet Sounds beats Bringing It All Home, but not many other Dylan albums, imo.

Clearly you've never heard M.I.U. or L.A. (Light Album).

I voted for the Beach Boys, but this isn't their best record. Still, it's a damn good one and I don't like Dylan as much.

Pet Sounds isn't close to their worst no matter how you look at it. That's just contrarian/reactionary nonsense.

I only like when they sing about girls and cars and sound catchy.

The 15th best Dylan album (hell, maybe the 20th best too) blows away the best Beach Boys album. That said, I might rank BIABH as high as #2 in the Dylan catalog and I'd rank Pet Sounds #3 at best in the BB catalog and probably not that high.

So I suppose you'd try to make an argument that 1) Pet Sounds is drastically different than that and not "catchy" and 2) the pre-Pet Sounds albums actually hold together as albums and aren't full of some awful filler. Or that Surf's Up doesn't have a song about taking care of your feet and "Disney Girls".

And BIABH is my favorite Dylan album, btw. That's why I voted for it.

That's like teenager puppy love stuff, "Wouldn't It Be Nice" is the graduation into adult love feelings.

It continues on like that. It doesn't meet the quota of hot rod and surfing songs as its predecessors, but it definitely talks about girls and love.

For me, "You Still Believe In Me" evokes the same emotional highs as the "Halellujah" chorus.

Pop band as choir.
Fucking amazingly, indescribably beautiful.
Period.
