Well, the two kidney stones I was diagnosed with this morning sure do!

Woke up at 7am with bad pains on my left side (front and back). Though it might be gas....It wasn't. Finally around 8 am I dragged myself to a local med center, and they thought it was diverticulitis....They wanted me to go to the emergency room anyways to get a cat scan just in case.

So, the wife baby and I treked to the emergency room. Me in tears at this point. Thankfully it wasn't too busy. They got me in a room, and I got my cat scan about 90 minutes later. a 1mm one and a 5mm one.

If it was 6mm or bigger, they would have admitted me, bt they feel with some percocet and some flomax, they think I can pass them both in the next few days and if not, they do their thing..

This sucks...The percocet keeps me out of pain, but im scared to death of passing this larger stone, as a few people have mentioned already, it being more painful then childbirth....

Oh yay!

Start jerking off now. Those pre-semenal fluids will surely aid any ejection.

Wait, I never had anatomy in college.

JK, Dov. I've had many friends and acquaintances who had to deal with this. Concensus: it's not fun

It couldn't hurt. Plus, it could be the last time!

Jk. Hope you feel better. The wife had kidney stones and gall bladder stones, and both looked horrendously painful.

when people say this is the most pain they've ever experienced in their life and other people scoff at that, i'm floored.

My uncle never had a Kramer like reaction to his stones, but a few of them fucked him up pretty good back in the day. I heard about a particular scene at the local mall that really scared the hell out of people. All I know, is I want no part of kidney stones after hearing the horror stories. I've heard it referenced as the male equivalent of birthing pain.
If it hurts any worse than dislocating a shoulder, I will wish for death if it happens to me.

i had them back when i was in my late 20's. probably the worst pain i've ever felt, though passing them wasn't so bad. when they were in my kidneys, i could barely stand up and kept vomiting. i had a smaller one a few years back but it wasn't that bad.

I'm hoping for this....The Percocet are doing a good of controlling the pain so far, and if passing them won't kill me, I might live through this...All the idea of not knowing when is what kills me.!

There's a lot of water in beer, so I should be ok.

That's really what they look like? Sweet Jebus... I had heard of the pain of passing stones, didn't know they were literally kidney mines designed to cause major pain. Best o'luck and better you than me.

So, later this week, i am going in for some out patient surgery.
Knocking me out, attaching some sort of gel pack to my side, and they are gonna shock the stone into sand...no invasive surgery needed (as of now).

pain sucks.

Dov, I truly feel your pain. I was right there back in '98, and it was the most intense, crippling pain I can possibly imagine. Hope you're able to get that sucker fired off soon!

And for what it's worth, passing them isn't what hurts, that pain you had when you woke up is the worst of it. Especially the constant sensation of urination without being able to. So effing backed up.

Doctors told me that the most common generator of kidney stones in men is regular consumption (though not simultaneously) of iced tea and ice cream.
