This is the first part (the group stage) in Obner's efforts to pick the best album released in the 2000s. In the group stage, there will be 64 groups of 5 albums. The top vote-getter in each group will advance to the 64-album tournament.

Please vote for the album that you feel deserves to be in the tournament. The deadline for this group is Wednesday, August 5 at 1:00PM Eastern Time.

I've only heard Beck and Feist and am frankly not a big fan of either album. I do like the first couple of songs on Sea Change though so the thetan within says DO IT.

SSM?

Low's last really good album for me, sadly.

I'm tempted to vote for Mos, but that just came out...didn't like that Beck album at all, haven't heard the others.

Feist

I intuited that you'd vote that way. Very Tone 40.

Low. Best album of the decade.

Of course Beck's first truly weak album is winning this. Of course it is. Even Feist isn't bland enough to win this round.

not like this was a great group or anything, but this album does not belong anywhere near the top 64 albums of the decade...Puke is right.

Apparently the SSM are too depressed by their latest round of E-Meter readings to appreciate Low.

Or, 25 people thought that Sea Change was better than the others.

I haven't had the desire to pull out any 90's Beck in years probably but this album is one I still enjoy. A couple of misses but overall I love the melancholy mood of it. Certainly a cathartic type of record and Nigel Godrich's production suits it perfectly IMO.

Seems like most people are just exhausted from Beck in general but I thought "Modern Guilt" was solid. I will listen to "Sea Change" forever when that particular itch needs to be scratched. The strings and keys backing sad songs and basic acoustic guitar. What's not to like?
