I'm still always excited to hear what they do.
But...reading this slowed my enthusiasm.

Martsch is clearly feeling some fatigue from the long recording process. When asked about the possibility of bringing the new stuff, which is being co-produced by Martsch and Dave Trumfio, to the BTS live show, he responds, "Right now I feel like if we went on tour tomorrow I wouldn't want to play these songs at all because I've had enough of them."

HA!
Trumfio!

I know him. He's from around my hometown (Highland Park, IL). I worked with him with my very first band (in 1990), at his basement studio in West Rogers Park. And then, again, at KingSize in Chicago, with my old punk band (Cash Cow), right when the studio first opened up.

Good guy. Good engineer. Always happy to see that he's still working and having some success. Especially after Pulsars imploded.

But you're right, this interview does not make me excited for any new BTS anything.

Sounds like Doug's already accepted the position at a local ad agency.

IIRC, he's sounded like that in interviews before.

Yeah, in a CMJ interview for "Ancient Melodies..." he basically said if you hadn't been a fan of the band prior to that record he didn't really give a shit about you.

Let's have a hand for Mr. Cheery!
