You are all invited to this fabulous event! It seems Surfrider Foundation doesn’t have many events like this open to everyone so we do hope you will attend.

On Saturday, August 29th, we will be cleaning the entire beach of Asbury Park as part of the Barefoot Wine Beach Rescue Project. Barefoot Wine has been supporting beach cleanups with Surfrider Foundation for several years.

But this one is different because after the cleanup, there will be a reception at the Stone Pony with light food, Barefoot Wine (21 and over only please), followed by a free concert with Mason Jennings, Cold War Kids, Gavin DeGraw, and Joss Stone! Everyone who cleans the beach gets to come to the reception and they get preferred seating (standing) at the concert. But spaces are limited so please RSVP to this event to ensure your space.

People have to RSVP because while anyone can participate in the beach cleanup, the reception is of course only for those 21 and over. So please RSVP here http://www.beachrescueconcert.com/

Please circulate this to your lists and I hope to see some of you there.

Thanks!

I will be there. It's taking place in Asbury Park, NJ on the 29th of August. Mason Jennings, Joss Stone, etc (not my faves, but free) are playing. It's free to everyone, but you do have to RSVP, so if you are interested, click on the link and scroll down to do so...

Like I said, not the best bands in the world, but free wine and a free show after a little help to the shoreline can't be bad eh?

Anyway, I thought I'd invite you people in case you were interested.

Not my favorites either, but its free and only 30 minutes from me...might be worth checking out (even though Asbury Park is a dump).

Don't get me wrong, Asbury Park isn't that bad anymore (especially compared to the absolute wreck of a town it turned into in the 80s and early 90s), but there are about 20 or 30 other places I'd rather go if I'm heading out to the Jersey shore. Would've loved to have seen it in its heyday though.

I know very little about it. My friend and his wife live in Neptune City, right by Bradley Beach, and she works for Clean Ocean Action. Her organization is helping out with surfrider, etc and I just happen to be there that weekend visiting. :)

Neptune City is pretty nice although really small. The Shark River is pretty scenic right there. Belmar, Manasquan, Brielle, and Point Pleasant are also nice towns worth checking out if you get the chance, and are all just south of where you'll be (within 10 miles). If you can avoid it, stay off the Garden State Parkway...heavy traffic and coin toss tolls. Ergh.

Yeah, I have actually been to the Jersey shore 5 or so times in the past year to year and half. Friends were in Red Bank for a while and moved to Neptune City. I really like the Jersey shore and wouldn't complain if I had to live there some day. Pretty much the opposite side of the train tracks toward Bradley Beach is way nicer than where my friends actually live, but they have a nice place and it's a short walk to the ocean, so again, I couldn't complain.

Where are you exactly?
