I love Spoon, but that Bon Iver is pretty amazing.

My least favorite Spoon vs. a pretty good, not great album.

Guess I'll go with Bon Iver.

I only get excited about Spoon in little bursts, and I've never really gotten into that record as a whole.

And I really enjoyed the Bon Iver, and still put it on once in awhile, Reg Rock Contingent be damned. Just because nobody's slurring into a mic about popping cherries and doing smack doesn't mean it's for pussies. Actually, fuck, maybe that IS what he's singing about.

Spoon, these albums are about dead even for me, but I got to see Spoon play this work live.

Yeah, there's nothing regular about a white guy with an acoustic guitar. Way to push for extreme experimentalism, Cap.

I think he was focusing on the gaybo acoustic thing, like a Northwoodsy John Mayer, not so much that BI is some kind of carnival, Tom Waits-meets-Cafe Tacuba thing*. Thus, BI is not reg rock. Instead, it's gay.

*Obviously, this is false. Much too uncluttered.

Bon Iver - because i haven't gotten into that spoon album much. If it were any other spoon album it would have got my vote.

This spoon is my favorite album of the decade and easily their best work. The Bon Iver is nice but it really doesn't break free from a hundred albums that mine the same territory.

I said "reg rock crowd" not reg rock itself, fearing the semi inevitable lambasting anything facing a band like Spoon has been getting. Not the case here? Awesome. I never said it was avant garde, just quiet and falsetto-ey.
